Postnatal Exercise: Many benefits for mums!
In consultation with your doctor, it’s definitely possible and very beneficial for mums to resume exercise not long after they’ve given birth!
Among many benefits, regular exercise helps:
- keep you fit and mobile
- reduces the risk of injury in everyday life
- can help you lose weight and
- will boost your mood.
This can be through brisk walking, swimming, Pilates, Mums Group Fitness classes, and light running.
Even just 10-20 minutes a day can be effective and will assist you in healing and adjusting to life with a new baby. If you feel too tired or sore, just do what you can, don’t overdo it and always check with your Doctor if you’re not sure about whether it’s safe for you.
Exercising can also be fun and social if you workout with other mums and bubs or join a Mums Group Fitness Class. Don’t be too hard on yourself if it’s difficult to find time, give it a go when you can and enjoy the benefits!
